Helping you navigate difficult conversations with confidence, clarity, and skill.
Conflict is a normal part of life. Yet many of us were never taught how to handle it effectively.
Whether the conflict is at work, within your family, in your community, or in a personal relationship, difficult situations can leave us feeling frustrated, anxious, angry, stuck, or unsure of what to do next.
Conflict coaching provides a confidential, one-to-one space to help you better understand conflict, develop practical strategies, and approach difficult conversations with greater confidence and effectiveness.
"Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom."
— Viktor E. Frankl
Conflict coaching helps you make better use of that space.
When we are caught in conflict, it can feel as though our reactions are automatic. We become defensive, frustrated, anxious, angry, or withdrawn. Conflict coaching helps you slow down, understand what is driving those reactions, and make conscious choices about how you want to respond.
The goal is not to change other people. The goal is to help you develop the awareness, skills, and confidence to approach difficult situations in a way that aligns with your values and moves you closer to the outcome you want.
What Is Conflict Coaching?
Conflict coaching is a structured, future-focused process that helps individuals improve their ability to manage conflict and communication.
Rather than focusing solely on the behaviour of others, conflict coaching helps you explore your own responses, assumptions, communication patterns, triggers, and choices.
Through coaching, you can develop greater self-awareness, build confidence, and identify practical ways to approach challenging situations more effectively.
Conflict coaching is not about telling you what to do. It is about helping you discover the approach that is most likely to achieve the outcome you want.
How Is Conflict Coaching Different From Mediation?
While both conflict coaching and mediation help people deal with conflict, they serve different purposes.
Mediation
Mediation involves two or more people working together with an impartial mediator to address a conflict or disagreement.
The mediator remains neutral and supports all participants equally.
Conflict Coaching
Conflict coaching is a one-to-one process.
You attend on your own and focus entirely on your situation, your goals, and the challenges you are facing.
Unlike mediation, conflict coaching does not require the involvement of the other person or people involved in the conflict.
Conflict coaching can be particularly useful when:
-
The other person is unwilling to participate in mediation
-
You are preparing for a difficult conversation
-
You want to improve your communication skills
-
You need clarity before deciding what action to take
-
You want to build confidence in handling conflict
-
Mediation is not yet appropriate
In some situations, conflict coaching may be a helpful precursor to mediation.

My Approach
As a certified CINERGY Conflict Coach and Accredited Professional Mediator, I help people understand what is happening beneath the surface of a conflict.
Often, conflict is not just about the issue being argued about. It is influenced by emotions, assumptions, values, needs, identity, communication patterns, and past experiences.
Together, we explore these factors and identify practical choices that can help you achieve better outcomes.
My coaching approach is supportive, practical, and non-judgemental. I will challenge your thinking where appropriate, but I will never tell you what decisions to make.
The goal is not simply to solve today's conflict. The goal is to help you develop skills and insights that will serve you long after the current situation has passed.
What Happens During Conflict Coaching?
Every coaching engagement is different, but sessions typically involve:
Understanding the Situation
Exploring the conflict, the people involved, and what has happened so far.
Clarifying Your Goal
Identifying what outcome you would like to achieve and what success would look like.
Increasing Awareness
Exploring triggers, assumptions, emotions, needs, values, and communication patterns that may be influencing the situation.
Exploring Options
Identifying practical choices and approaches available to you.
Preparing for Action
Developing a plan for your next conversation, decision, or step forward.
There Is a Way Forward
Conflict can feel overwhelming when you are in the middle of it.
Sometimes the greatest shift occurs not because the other person changes, but because you gain new insight, new skills, and a different way of approaching the situation.
If you would like to explore whether conflict coaching could help, I invite you to get in touch for a confidential, no-obligation conversation.
